Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
