Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then discovered numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
